Session: This Moment Matters
Shawn's Message: The missing link between where you are and where you want to be is rarely more information. It's implementation. How do you do better at that, one moment at a time?
Shawn Ellis--also known as "The Moment Guy--is an entrepreneur whose own stress level during the recession 10 years ago brought on an introspective journey that led to a major "A ha!" moment.
His breakthrough was understanding the power of resilience, and how to use it to get things done in the face of whatever life and business throw your way. "It doesn’t matter how fired up you are or how brilliant your strategies are, if you can't implement when you’re laying on the ground."
Sound like something you’d like to hear more about? Us too.
Shawn's entrepreneurial journey will be familiar to many kitchen and bath industry professionals. His personal and professional development business took a major hit in 2009, during the recession. Debt piled up. His personal life was challenging as he transitioned into being as a single dad. "Needless to say, things were more than a little overwhelming," he said. And given his line of work, "frankly, it was humiliating.
"I thought to himself, 'I shouldn’t be here.'"
That was when Shawn radically changed the way he operated and now shares those insights with audiences like BIZCON in a fun, engaging way. You’ll leave Shawn’s BIZCON presentation with the following powers — (which to us, seem like superpowers):
- The Power of Awareness: Be here now; be somewhere else later.
- The Power of Focus: Do what you’re doing, and bring your full talent, skill, and experience into it.
- The Power of Alignment: Let one simple question will guide you: what’s the right thing, right now?
- The Power of Perspective: Is what you’re looking at a problem or a gift?
Shawn has delivered "This Moment Matters” to professionals at Panera Bread, ING Americas, Ingredion, Marathon Oil, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Unisys Corp. He's provided training to executives at Google, Procter & Gamble, and Bose among others.
Shawn will also leave you with concrete next steps that will allow you to put his lessons into practice when you get home from BIZCON.
"As we know, one of the biggest challenges of going to a conference like BIZCON is you come home with so many ideas, you don't know what to do first," Shawn said. "I'm going to show you process through that, so you go back home with your outcome in mind."
Every moment matters, so please take this moment to register for BIZCON, October 4-5 at the Lost Pines Resort and Spa near Austin, TX.
