What is a Kitchen and Bath Buying Group?

Jan 18, 2017 12:55:33 PM

Ah, yes. The familiar question. It is usually preceeded with "What is SEN Design Group?," however. After a great week at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Orlando, FL, it seems appropriate to address the often asked question of, "What is a kitchen and bath buying group?"

By definition, a buying group is a network that brings together independent businesses to leverage combined purchasing power in order to achieve lower pricing from suppliers. Pretty simple, right?

Well, it is! The idea is successful across multiple industries, with businesses coming together to receive better pricing, discounts, and in some cases, rebates. And, it just makes sense. The old adage, “Two heads are better than one” rings true in the case of buying groups as well. Sometimes, 200 heads are better than one and together those businesses can achieve greater things than any one business could do on its own.

Why would any manufacturer want to offer lower pricing and rebates? Well, suppliers see the benefit of being able to promote their product to a core group of dealers, and also see the enormous possibilities in terms of sales. Members of buying groups are loyal to the manufacturers and often times are motivated by the rebates to purchase more than a dealer outside of the group. For suppliers, this concentrated network can turn out to be more successful than its other dealers and also provides a great source for feedback.

Kitchen and bath buying groups are no different. Combined with hundreds of other dealers, those in buying groups are able to take advantage of better pricing than non-buying group members, and rebates. Who doesn’t love a little money back?! In addition to the monetary benefits, some kitchen and bath buying groups also offer education, business coaching, and sales training to truly make its members’ businesses stronger.
